Creating fixed character strings

Character strings are optional form elements. Free-text character strings are used in the report heading to identify the organization providing the report and other information. Labels are used to identify the sample attribute. For example, you can position a Sample ID label beside the Sample Number attribute.

Creating fixed character strings for use as free-text and labels

  1. From the View menu at the Print Form Settings window, select Property(P).

  2. Select Fixed Character String.

  3. Create a new, fixed character string:

  1. In the List(L) box, select with the right mouse button.

  2. In the popup menu, select Add(A).

  3. Enter the text in the box below the List box.

  4. Select in the List(L) box.

The new, fixed character string is displayed.

  1. In the Vertical(V) box of the Print Position area, enter the vertical printing position in mm down from the top margin of each report.

  2. In the Horizontal(H) box of the Print Position area, enter the horizontal printing position in mm across from the left margin of each report.

  3. Select Font to change the displayed font selections.

  4. Select anywhere on the form page.

The fixed character string displays in each report on the form page at the position defined by the Vertical and Horizontal entries.

  1. Modify the content of an existing fixed character string if needed:.

  1. In the List(L) box, select and highlight the appropriate fixed character string to change.

  2. Select the highlighted fixed character string with the right mouse button.

  3. At the popup menu, select Modify(M).

  4. Enter revised text in the box below the below the List(L) box.

  5. Select in the List(L) box.

  6. The revised fixed character string is displayed.

  7. Change the print position and font as required.

  1. Delete an existing fixed character string if needed:

  1. In the List(L) box, select with the right mouse button the fixed character string you want to delete.

  2. At the popup menu, select Delete(D).

  3. When prompted, select Yes to confirm.

  1. Close the dialog box.
